Aydin Group at PerFunPro 2025 Conference in Konstanz: Invited talk by Dr. Aydin and the Best Prize to Jian Huang!

September 10, 2025

The Aydin Group recently participated in the PerFunPro Conference in Konstanz, an international meeting that brings together the perovskite research community to present their latest results, expand their networks, and discuss emerging challenges in the field. This conference is primarily funded by the DFG Priority Program SPP2196, and the Aydin Group joined the program in 2024 as an associate partner.

At the conference, Dr. Erkan Aydin delivered an invited talk titled “Interfaces at Work: Enhancing Perovskite Solar Cells for Both Terrestrial and Space Environments”, highlighting recent advances in perovskite and perovskite–silicon tandem solar cells. His presentation emphasized the critical role of interfaces in improving device performance, including strategies for mitigating defect states, optimizing recombination junctions, exploring alternative hole-selective contacts, and enhancing encapsulation for thermomechanical resilience. The talk also covered the translation of these high-efficiency technologies to space applications, addressing the unique challenges posed by extreme thermal and environmental conditions.

Additionally, PhD candidate Jian Huang from the Aydin Group was awarded the Best Poster Prize for his work titled “Enhanced Charge Extraction in Textured Perovskite-Silicon Tandem Solar Cells via Molecular Contact Functionalization.” This recognition highlights the innovative approaches the group is pursuing in high-efficiency photovoltaics.

The Aydin Group continues to engage with researchers in Germany and internationally to advance realistic, high-efficiency solar technologies for both terrestrial and space applications.
