Visit to Prof. Dr. Lukas Schmidt-Mende's research group at Konstanz for future collaborations

September 30, 2024

Dr. Erkan Aydin visited Prof. Dr. Lukas Schmidt-Mende's research group at the University of Konstanz for a scientific exchange. Prof. Schmidt-Mende's team focuses on hybrid and organic photovoltaics, aiming to understand and optimize light-matter interactions in these materials for energy harvesting applications.

During the visit, Dr. Aydin discussed potential collaboration opportunities with Prof. Schmidt-Mende and his team. In addition, Dr. Ugur delivered an invited talk titled "Towards Stable and Efficient Perovskite/Silicon Tandem Solar Cells." Her presentation focused on the critical importance of improving the efficiency of existing solar cell technologies through tandem architectures. She emphasized that multi-junction solar cells, such as perovskite/silicon tandems, enable the capture of a broader solar spectrum and thus higher power output. Furthermore, she discussed the team's efforts to understand loss mechanisms in tandem devices under operational conditions and shared insights into perovskite degradation after field tests under heat and light exposure.
