Dr. Aydin chaired panel discussion at TandemPV 2024 Workshop featured a distinguished lineup of experts
June 27, 2024
The TandemPV workshop is an exclusive event designed to bring together leading experts and researchers from the silicon and thin-film photovoltaic communities. It serves as a unique platform at the crossroads of these two pivotal domains, fostering collaboration and innovation. By bringing together material scientists and device specialists, the workshop aims to forge interdisciplinary collaborations that will drive the future of photovoltaic technology.
Dr. Aydin has organized the panel discussion at TandemPV consecutively three times since 2021.
Reflecting on the evolution of the panel discussions, Dr. Aydin shared insights from previous years. "When I organized the panel discussion for the first time in 2022, the main message was 'Perovskite-based tandem solar cells are promising, and scalability and stability aspects should be studied simultaneously, with more efforts needed to reveal the potential.' In 2023, the message evolved to 'The community is convinced that perovskite-based tandem cells are efficient platforms, so it's time to focus on more stability, reliability, and durability aspects.' In 2024, the message was 'The field has significant motivation for industrialization; the process scaling has been proven, and even modules have been demonstrated. However, the field must progress more on the reliability aspects, as this seems to be the bottleneck.'"
The panel discussion featured a distinguished lineup of experts, including Fabian Fertig from Q Cell, Tomas Leijtens from Swift Solar, Bo He from Longi, Timothy Silverman from NREL, and Noella Lemaitre from CEA. The session was chaired by Dr. Erkan Aydin from LMU Munich and Dr. Gianluca Coletti from UNSW.

This panel discussion has become a tradition of the TandemPV workshop, bringing together world-class experts to discuss the progress of the past years and the challenges to be faced in the upcoming years. This ongoing dialogue is crucial for the continued advancement of photovoltaic technology and the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions.
