Expanding Collaborations Across LMU Physics and CeNS: visit to Prof. Emiliano Cortés
May 30, 2025
As part of our ongoing efforts to expand research collaborations in the Munich region, we recently made our first visit to the group of Prof. Emiliano Cortés at the LMU Physics Department, located in the Nanoinstitute in the heart of the city.
Prof. Cortés and his team are internationally recognized for their interdisciplinary research at the crossroads of physics, chemistry, and materials science. Their work centers on developing and understanding novel nanomaterials for energy conversion, transport, and storage. With a strong focus on plasmonic and photonic solutions, their research explores advanced optical, electrical, and thermal materials—including metals, semiconductors, 2D materials, single atoms, and carbon-based systems. The team aims to tailor these materials for applications in catalysis and next-generation energy technologies, contributing to a more sustainable energy future.
This marks the first step in what we hope will be a fruitful collaboration between our groups within the CeNS and e-conversion 2.0 communities.
More exciting developments to come—stay tuned!
