Prof. Selcen Uzun Duran Joins Our Group for a Research Visit on Radiation Hardness of Perovskite Solar Cells
February 2, 2026
We are pleased to welcome Selcen Uzun Duran, Associate Professor at Karadeniz Technical University, to our laboratory for a three-month research visit. During her stay, she will collaborate with our team on investigating the radiation hardness of perovskite-based solar cells, with a particular focus on space-relevant radiation environments.
Prof. Uzun Duran completed her master’s degree in Nuclear Energy at Kocaeli University and her PhD at Karadeniz Technical University. She conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Physics at Middle East Technical University in 2017, where she contributed to the establishment of the “Particle Radiation Test Creation Laboratory (METU-DBL),” supported by the Turkish Ministry of Development, and performed radiation calculations for its installation.
Her research expertise lies in nuclear and radiation physics, including neutron shielding material development, radiation qualification of electronic systems for space applications, shield design, environmental radioactivity assessment (soil, water, thermal springs, and radon measurements), and particle radiation testing. She has served as principal investigator and researcher in numerous projects supported by TÜBİTAK, KTU-BAP, and the Ministry of Development. Prof. Uzun Duran has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and holds patent applications in the field of neutron-absorbing materials.
During her visit, we aim to combine her expertise in radiation physics with our ongoing work on advanced perovskite photovoltaics to better understand degradation mechanisms under particle irradiation and to develop more robust device architectures for space applications.
