Biography
Àlvar Martin Pelacho earned his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from UPC-BarcelonaTech in 2021, where his thesis focused on developing a MATLAB-based solver for finite element simulations, achieving top marks and recognition in the scientific community. He continued his studies at UPC with a Master’s in Industrial Engineering and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Energy and Process Engineering at the Technical University of Munich. His research and projects span finite element analysis of thermo-mechanical systems and the design of large-scale photovoltaic plants. Alvar’s professional experience includes roles in R&D consulting at Ernst & Young and academic development of FEM tools at UPC.
His master's thesis in the Aydin Group focused on multiphysics modeling of thermal cycling-induced stress and failure in high-efficiency solar cells for low Earth orbit applications (joint supervision with Prof. Markus Zimmermann, TUM). He is now a trainee at ACER (Ljubljana, Slovenia), contributing to European energy infrastructure and market regulation.
