We are pleased to welcome Nikil Magesh and Philip Neugebauer to the Aydin Group as visiting researchers.
Nikil Magesh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. His work focuses on computational modeling and the design optimization of mechanical systems. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computational Mechanics jointly at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and LMU’s Department of Chemistry. In the Aydin Group, his Master’s thesis explores vibration-induced failure mechanisms in CubeSat systems incorporating perovskite–silicon tandem solar cells.
Philip Neugebauer graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ruhr University Bochum in 2024. His undergraduate thesis focused on applying inverse deformation methods using finite element analysis to determine the manufacturing geometry of low-pressure (LP) last-stage blades at Siemens Energy. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Aerospace at TUM, with coursework spanning finite element methods to spacecraft engineering. In the Aydin Group, his research focuses on modeling the thermomechanical behavior of perovskite solar cells for Low Earth orbit applications, in collaboration with Dr. Michael Häußler (TUM).
Nikhil will be with the group until the end of September, while Philip will remain with us until mid-July.
We warmly welcome both to the group and look forward to their contributions.
